Trapped?

Sometimes it seems to me that life serves me certain things again and again.... just thought I am over it and then I am in the middle of the same old story again. Maybe life wants to tell me something... But what?

Love poems

Talking about love poems the other night, I remembered Erich Frieds beautiful poetry. He got famous with his love poems, but before that he was known for his political-minded poetry. I picked out two poems, German and English.

Es ist was es ist

Es ist Unsinn
sagt die Vernunft
Es ist was es ist
sagt die Liebe

Es ist Unglück
sagt die Berechnung
Es ist nichts als Schmerz
sagt die Angst
Es ist aussichtslos
sagt die Einsicht
Es ist was es ist
sagt die Liebe

Es ist lächerlich
sagt der Stolz
Es ist leichtsinnig
sagt die Vorsicht
Es ist unmöglich
sagt die Erfahrung
Es ist was es ist
sagt die Liebe

Erich Fried

It is what it is

It is madness
says reason
It is what it is
says love

It is unhappiness
says calculation
It is nothing but pain
says fear
It has no future
says insight
It is what it is
says love

It is ridiculous
says pride
It is reckless
says caution
It is impossible
says experience
It is what it is
says love

Ohne dich

Nicht nichts
ohne dich
aber nicht dasselbe

Nicht nichts
ohne dich
aber vielleicht weniger

Nicht nichts
aber weniger
und weniger

Vielleicht nicht nichts
ohne dich
aber nicht mehr viel

Erich Fried

Without you

Not nothing
without you
but not the same

Not nothing
without you
but perhaps less

Not nothing
but less
and less

Perhaps not nothing
without you
but not much anymore

Never say never

Me and a blog? Never thought I would join the blog world. Originally I thought it would be good for a portfolio piece, but in creating it I’ve realized that I don’t want it to be that at all. And I had to figure out what to do with unlimited free lines for my own. Paradise for a writer one could guess. But who doesn’t know the dilemma with freedom... What do I really like that could be interesting for others? Art and books! I always loved to read and I am often asked by friends to recommend or lend titles. Books are like good friends, just standing in front of the shelf and going through them can lift me up. And I never fail to pick the right one, the one I need in that moment. Recently, I found out that art works the same way for me. So hopefully you’ll find soon notes about artists and books that happen to cross my path. And absolutely subjective!
